This bin is made using a box that can be bought at most large DIY stores. It is sold for storing garden furniture covers etc. It has a capacity of 330 litres. As it is designed for use outside it is reasonably weather proof. Some minor modifications are require to allow enable its use as a wormery

Use a general Silicone sealer to seal the inside to prevent worms from escaping.

Once sealed a drain tap needs to be installed to allow any liquid to escape.

Drop some 2 x2 blocks in the bottom, and fit a false floor

A number of different materials can be used as bedding. A Coir block can be soaked in a bucket of water for 2 hours, or shredded paper soaked over night. In this case both materials were used.

Add some worms and position in the shade. Leave for a while and add some diced kitchen scraps or chopped up soft fruit. Cover with cardboard which has been soaked with water. Fill six inches at a time with composted garden waste. The resulting material will be a rich, dark fine grade compost.
